Job 38:4World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The speaker asks where the listener was when he laid the foundations of the earth.

To understand

The preceding line assigns the listener the task of answering questions. The next asks who determined the earth’s measurements and stretched a line over it. Foundation, measurements and line describe the earth with building language.

A question

What kind of answer would require the listener to have witnessed the earth’s foundations?
