⁵Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
⁶In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5–6World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The instruction joins trust in the LORD with a warning against relying on one's own understanding. It includes all one's ways.

To understand

The two verses contrast where trust rests and how broadly it applies. They name a direction for one's paths without describing every step.

A question

Which words keep this instruction from applying to only one decision?
