²⁴The fat of that which dies of itself, and the fat of that which is torn of animals, may be used for any other service, but you shall in no way eat of it.

Leviticus 7:24World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The instruction allows other uses for fat from an animal that dies on its own or is torn by wild animals, while forbidding eating it.

To understand

The previous line names fat from cattle, sheep and goats in the prohibition. The next gives the consequence for eating fat from animals offered by fire to the LORD.

A question

Which use is permitted, and where does the instruction draw its boundary?
