¹⁴Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Joel 3:14World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

Multitudes gather in the valley of decision as the day of the LORD approaches.

To understand

The surrounding speech calls nations into a valley for judgment, then uses harvest and winepress imagery for their wickedness. Darkness in the sky follows the crowded scene.

A question

Why is the crowd's gathering described alongside a judge, a harvest and a winepress?
