¹³As for me, where would I carry my shame? And as for you, you will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.”

2 Samuel 13:13World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

Tamar tells Amnon what shame his demand would bring her and urges him to speak to the king.

To understand

Her refusal is explicit just before this. The next line says Amnon would not listen and used his greater strength to force her; the account records her protest before the violence.

A question

Which words establish Tamar's refusal before the account describes Amnon's actions?
