The scene

The letter describes waiting for God’s Son from heaven and names him as Jesus, raised from the dead.

To understand

This line continues the previous verse, which describes turning from idols to serve the living and true God. Waiting for the Son belongs to the same account of the recipients’ changed worship.

A question

What is added to the description of serving God when the sentence continues with waiting for his Son?
