¹⁶Let no one therefore judge you in eating or drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day,

Colossians 2:16World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The letter tells its recipients not to let others judge them over food, drink or observance of particular days.

To understand

The list includes festivals, new moons and Sabbaths. The next verse calls these a shadow and associates the body with Christ. That image supplies the stated reason for the instruction.

A question

What does the image of shadow and body add to the list of food and days?
