⁷For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.

Romans 5:7World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The letter considers how rarely someone dies for a righteous person, even if someone might dare to die for a good person.

To understand

The neighboring verses describe Christ dying for the ungodly and for people still called sinners. The example of someone willing to die for another person sits between those two descriptions.

A question

How does the example of dying for a good person prepare the statement about dying for sinners?
