¹²But they don’t know the thoughts of the LORD, neither do they understand his counsel; for he has gathered them like the sheaves to the threshing floor.

Micah 4:12World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

Micah compares the nations assembled against Zion to sheaves gathered on a threshing floor.

To understand

The nations want to see Zion profaned. The next verse calls Zion to thresh, so the harvest image changes the role of those gathered against her.

A question

What happens to the nations’ position when the gathering becomes a threshing-floor image?
