¹⁹(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Hebrews 7:19World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The writer describes a better hope through which people draw near to God.

To understand

The statement follows the setting aside of an earlier commandment described as weak. It also says the law made nothing perfect; the argument is comparing what brings people near to God.

A question

What purpose is assigned to the better hope in this comparison?
