²⁵Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war: seven thousand one hundred.

1 Chronicles 12:25World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The list records seven thousand one hundred men of Simeon described as warriors ready for war.

To understand

The neighboring entries count men of Judah and Levi separately. Simeon's entry keeps both the number and the description of the men, rather than merging the groups into one total.

A question

What would be lost if these separate tribal entries were reduced to a single number?
