The scene

The passage says that whoever does wrong will receive the consequences of that wrong, without partiality.

To understand

The preceding verse speaks of receiving an inheritance from the Lord and serving Christ. The next sentence keeps responsibility for wrongdoing in view alongside that promised reward.
