⁷But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves.

2 Corinthians 4:7World English Bible, Protestant Edition

The scene

The writer describes a treasure held in clay vessels so that the power is attributed to God rather than to those holding it.

To understand

Verse 6 speaks of light and knowledge of God's glory in the face of Christ. Verse 8 follows the vessel image with pressure and perplexity experienced by the speakers.

A question

How do the pressures in verse 8 help you read the image of a clay vessel?
